Advent Traditions is your #1 online source for Advent gifts.
The tradition of the Advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first Advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
The traditional Advent calendar consists of two pieces of cardboard on top of each other. Twenty-four doors are cut out in the top layer, with a number ranging from one to twenty-four on each. Beginning on the first day of December, one door is opened each day, counting down the days remaining until Christmas Eve.
This wonderful holiday tradition has lasted over 150 years, from generation to generation. Share this favorite pastime with your friends and family this Christmas!
